In 2016 Permatree-Tipikas-Coffee shop started collaborating with technical assistance and field visits, to the family of Vitaliano Merino, coffee farmers. The farm, La Florida, is located in a unique coffee landscape of height. It is about 30 minutes by car from Imbana, which is the most difficult parish in the province of Zamora-Chinchipe, in southern Ecuador. At the entrance of the farm, the mountain waters of the Crystal River and the Colorado River meet. The farm has abundant flora and fauna endemic to its microclimate, such as tapir, cougars and many species of birds.
After winning the competition, Bracamoro Coffee Cup in 2017, Vitaliano Merino, focused on producing specialty coffee. This guaranteed him to participate in the Golden Cup 2018 event (Ecuador) and be able to obtain the 4th place nationally. Constancy, training and visits to other coffee farms in other countries, allowed him to improve his environmental practices. Also contributing to the expansion of biodiversity in its environment. The coffee of Vitaliano Merino’s family is a coffee of exceptional quality with distinctive flavors and aroma profiles dating back to its unique origin of the area.
The goal is to focus his time and attention on developing truly unique and wonderful qualities of coffee. The plot of land, is smaller than its regular production area. Vitaliano Merino’s family is dedicated to growing coffee of exceptional quality. The coffees grown like this are called microlots.
